The movies that have scenes of robots making robtos may seem something that, in reality, is quite some time off yet in our future, but let me tell you it's here and happening already. It is fact. In what is known as "lights out" factories (yes, plural) robots, right now, are making other robots autonomously. The age of "I, Robot" and the "Terminator" has begun.

That may seem quite interesting, fascinating or horrifying to you but the question today is about the affect robots have on our everyday lives in the area that is most talked about right now due to our recession; jobs. Factory workers are very well aware of the numbers of people already replaced by robots. Automation was the first human-replacer, but this time it's more serious.

Considering our society, it could also be a blessing, whereas the elderly can be assisted and cared for more thoroughly. A great robotic device helps by adding more leg strength for walking and Post-Op support. But when you look at the job loss overall, we're comming to a point where we, as a society, will begin to service the machines as we do already in many job positions. Robotic technicians are just the most obvious.

I think we're doing okay, for now, with the available technologies and methods. However, should we go to things like synapse-based computing, then AI programming may need to be more carefully monitored, I would think. Robots are getting better at things like movement (They can dance now) and mimicking human facial expressions. Better, stronger, faster... the 6 million dollar business of tomarrow may be the beginning of a new era of robots making humans... disappear. What do YOU think? Comment below...
