Although there have been some GREAT technologies for pets and animals, I wonder about the safety of them where the animals are concerned. There are some great ones that vastly improve a pets life, and some may even save a pets life, such as the HotDog Vehicle Temperature monitoring system which lowers windows and alerts the owner via pager when the interior of a vehicle gets too hot. But some products are just for lazy owners.

For a mere $1,250 USD you can get a Canin Shower Stall, which seems to be a great product, albeit expensive. The canines head is above the unit, which is much MUCH better when compared to the Dog-O-Matic Pet Washing Machine! This thing is basically a glorified washing machine you shove your pet into. Okay, well, a shower may be okay for you and me, but this just doesn't sound like a fun time for any pet. And looking at the thing, well, knowing how machines can go awry I wouldn't care to see this thing mass produced at all.

But then there's the $90 USD Canine Swim Safe PFD for dogs that helps smaller breeds in deep waters. Nice! I LIKE this product! Or how about a Lost Feline Locator for a hundred bucks that is an LED Locator device? It works up to about 300 feet they say. OH, and there's this great, safe product that is yet another advance in a positive light; a Digital Camera that has both Pet AND Human Face Recognition! Get the FinePix Z700EXR.

However, there are toher products that are just not seemingly right to create or use. A Laser Toy for Pets? No!!!! Yet FroliCat Bolt is being sold. All a kitten has to do is look into it long enough. Yikes! If a pets head can go under that laser, he can look into it and damage his eye permanently.

For fun I'd say go for the CatCam. Takes around 4 hours of video over several days. For $222 you can have a Cat or Dog Translator! Perhaps some social networking; PuppyTweet, available Fall 2010, is an electronic dog tag that send messages to your PC and then tweets to you using a sound and motion sensor via USB reciever. (You can Follow @Puppy_Tweet on Twitter here.) And Sony is comming out with a Cat Tweeting Collar that utilizes an acceleration sensor and camera that has a possibility of recognizing other cats faces!

Now THESE sound like FUN and they're SAFE!! What do YOU think? Know of any new tech for pets to share?
