This Dog May Bug You or Visa-Versa
Soldiers are bogged down by equipment and supplies, but this will change if the program ran by Boston Dynamics proves as useful as the initial promising results are. DARPA, those military based people who helped bring about the internet, funds such programs. But how? By cart? By air? No, the assistance may come from a Robotic Dog.
Little Dog is the precursor to the eventual "Big Dog" prototype that will carry heavy loads and may even help with crowd control situations. Right now, Little Dog reminds me more of a robotic insect, a bug, a kind of beetle without feelers. I mean, look at the thing. Without a tail or ears, it's definately a bug. But WOW what a COOL BUG!!

3 small electric motors power each of its 4 legs, which have a very large range of motion. It has sensors and an onboard PC level computer. It will work for a half hour before the lithium polymer batteries run low. And it has wireless, not for internet, but for relaying data to be logged and studied. So that's the guts, pretty much, and what this conglomeration of miniature advances can do is amazing!
Alright, now, what if they were to go ahead and make a bigger one? And what if it worked, and worked well, even kept going when kicked off balance? Would you be even mpore amazed? Be ready to be amazed, people. And kinda of spooked at the same time you're fascinated by what Boston Dynamics has accomplished.
