Joomla 1.6 News!
Readiness of the new Joomla 1.6 CMS is nearing, and the coding goes through constant changes and nightly builds towards that goal. Though no concrete date(s) can be reported as of the time of this writting, there is more informative and interesting news to report on the development of Joomla 1.6 with a new ACL.
Layout-tables are the past. The output structure in 1.6 is similar to the beez output in 1.5. The new beez template has been developed to take advantage of the changes in 1.6. Then there is the upgrading of the coding itself, XHTML vs HTML5.
The web is making large steps toward HTML5, but since XHTML is still widely used and currently the best known mark-up language, it is going to continue to be the default option. However, if somebody wants to use HTML 5, the new beez template offers a configurable parameter in the backend. When this parameter is activated, beez use the template override files that contain HTML-5 code
And there are other things, such as the fading in and out of parts of the site and modules, which can make a site more usable. Beez offers two possibilities for this type of feature.
