     I will be reinstalling/updating my CMS yet again to the new 1.6 version in order to fully test it out before committing it to new websites. Current websites may or may not be updated to this new version, depending on (1) my time, (2) inherant possible problems and (3) site complexities. If it seems favorable to do so, I will be upgrading existing websites. You will be notified prior to this event. At this time, how to upgrade from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.6 is unknown at this stage.

     The newer version will make it easier to update current modules and 3rd party code, which in the past has had to be done manually. But then on the downside, You will not be able to run Joomla 1.0 components in legacy as you were in Joomla 1.5 version. And again on the flip side, for templates, a legacy will be provided to use Joomla 1.5 templates in Joomla 1.6.

     So you can see why I have trepidations concerning upgrading current websites. We may have to give enough time for the 3rd party extensions to upgrade thier code so it is inline with the new 1.6 core code. How long that may be, I have no idea. It depends on the activeness each programmer or team of programmers and if they are still developing it at all. You may even need to sacrifice something in order to upgrade, such as a particular feature being left out, or perhaps moved to a newer one. You may even need to manually move data. More on all of this as I learn about what is going on with everything, so no need to querry me about it. I will post the news as soon as it becomes available to me.
