A rash of mass animal deaths are being reported. The red-winged blackbirds in Arkansas, several hundred more just south of there in Lousiana, the hundreds of thounsands of fish kills reported in the Arkansas River and in Maryland as well in Chesapake Bay.

The End of the World? Is it 2012 mentioning it's arrival? There's all kinds of initial speculations and theories. The loss of Pluto and a realignment for the zodiac, mayan calendars... ridiculous mentioning of how they predict sports games. (Honestly guys, sports is so not an end-all be-all pursuit that would entail dedicating all lifes events to being an influence or result of it.) But alas, there are logical, rational reasons and explanations for most of these events.

Consider the most recent: 200 Cows suddenly found dead here in my home state of Wisconsin. Should I wear a mask like the Japanese did on thier commuting services? Start stocking water and canned goods? I hadn't the time or resources, college is quite demanding. But it turns out it was just a mass case of Pneumonia.

I don't know about the 2012 prediction. The temporary shutdown of systems in airports to correct for a good increment in magnetic shift seemed interesting to note along with everything considered but as for the mass animal deaths, I can only logically put it aside after having read the announced results for autopsies performed. This reported shift in the poles for our planets magnetic field are of much more concern, it would seem to me. I surely wouldn't contemplate it's influence on sports. ;) Besides, I have to get back to my studies...

More blackbirds have fallen from the sky over a small Arkansas town for the second year in a row. The same town has seen this twice now. An ABC Arkansas affiliate reported that a radar image showed a large mass over the town a few hours before midnight Saturday. The Blackbirds then began falling from the sky, just like last year. A police dispatcher told ABC Radio that she received multiple calls. "Just that blackbirds are falling again and that they found black birds on their streets where they live or at churches," Nichols said. (See story here)
