What are KeyWords? How do I use them?

Keywords are what define your website and how people find it when entering a querry at a search engine, like google. If I enter; "tomcat prowler browser" then I better be using all three words in my websites Keywords.

Keywords can be short phrases, like "how do i,how can i" (though these two phrases are a BAD example, you get the idea). Avoid the usual words and get to the meat of your sites content. This is what I do to get the best results...

Go to google.com and enter in a search word or phrase you'd like to use for your own website. You will be served the results. Look for HOW MANY RESULTS there are. Make a note of this keyword or phrase, and how many results it returned. Then try another keyword or phrase.

Continue to do this until you have exhausted all the ones you can think of. This WILL take time! BUT it WILL be worth it!! You're going to want to look at the ones with the least number of results, and decide if it's a keyword or phrase many people would use or not.

The word "free" will come up with ALOT of results. But, coupled with another word, like "magic", and the results are narrowed even more. Add a 3rd, like "trick", and bam, even less results. THEREFORE, I would try change the 3rd word to "secret", see how many results I would get there. I bet it would be MUCH less! If I had a magic related website, but no "free magic sercret", I would MAKE ONE, keyword it appropriately, BEFORE submitting my website to search engines.

These tactics WORK! I know, because I made #4 on the AOL search engine with a website in the past. Just be sure that your MAIN page content has ALL the greatest keywords and phrases so that it is picked up by even the most laziest Search Engine bots. Some will use extensive spiders, which crawl your entire site for indexing in thier database! That is why you should make SURE that all content, even photos, have the correct keywords, alt tags and spelling BEFORE submitting to search engines.

You can submit your website to 30 top search engines for FREE! The information is listed near the end of my article; "Getting New Visitors... for FREE!"

Here is a quickie rundown of what to do...

_ Write down keywords and phrases
_ google each keyword/phrase
_ write down no# of results returned
_ continue for all keywords/phrases
_ create content for keywords if needed
_ assemble all keywords on main page
_ Triple-Check site spelling/content
_ Submit to Search Engines when READY.
